Temples of India – Thiruneeragam

Thiruneeragam is one of the 108 Divya Desams, the sacred Vishnu temples revered in the hymns of the Alvars. Located within the Ekambareswarar Temple complex in Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu, this temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu, worshipped here as Neeragathan with Goddess Nilamangai Thayar.

The temple holds great significance in Vaishnavism, as Thirumangai Alvar has sung its praises in the Divya Prabandham. The name “Thiruneeragam” is derived from “Neer” (water), symbolizing purity and devotion. Though small in structure, the temple’s spiritual essence attracts devotees seeking divine blessings and liberation (Moksha).
