Thiru Arutprakasa Vallalar, also known as Ramalinga Swamigal (1823–1874), was a revered Tamil saint, poet, and spiritual reformer. He is best known for spreading the philosophy of compassion, universal love, and the pursuit of divine wisdom through his teachings and literary works.
Vallalar emphasized Jeevakarunya (compassion for all living beings) and promoted vegetarianism, non-violence, and selfless service. His spiritual movement, the Samarasa Suddha Sanmarga Sathiya Sangam, advocated for equality and rejected caste and religious barriers. His divine hymns, compiled in Thiru Arutpa, continue to inspire spiritual seekers worldwide. He is also renowned for his belief in the deathless body (Sudha Deham) and his teachings on achieving enlightenment through love and inner realization.
