Sri Muthuswamy Dikshithar

Muthuswamy Dikshithar was a prominent composer and musician in the Carnatic classical music tradition of South India. Born in 1775, he is celebrated as one of the Trinity of Carnatic music, along with Tyagaraja and Shyama Sastri. Muthuswamy Dikshithar’s compositions, known for their intricate structure and deep devotion, are mostly in Sanskrit and cover a wide range of ragas. He is credited with creating the navagraha kritis and many other compositions that are still widely performed today. His works are known for their scholarly depth, melodic richness, and spiritual significance, making him a revered figure in Indian classical music.
